Welcome to what hopes to another exciting year for the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, otherwise known as VAND. We are over 1,400 strong representing the field of nutrition and dietetics throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
If you are brand new to us, welcome. As a member benefit, we hold monthly webinars on various topics. We also have a private practice listing available to the public via our website. Contact us if you are interested in being included. A member of our Member Services team will personally welcome you. We will also put you in contact with your local district affiliate.
For returning members, welcome back. We are still planning our monthly webinars. If there is a topic that would be of interest to you, please let the member services team know. Our listing of private practice dietitians is available on our website. We are also in need of bloggers. Please let us know if you are interested in contributing to the VAND blog.
On the advocacy front, we are maintaining our strong ties with the national and state representatives and want to expand those at the local level. More will come from our Public Policy team. Please remember, “If nutrition is your profession then advocacy should be your passion”.
This year we will be reviewing and revising our strategic plan and advocating for a Farm Bill which will protect the nutrition services offered to clients through federal programs. Also, we are gearing up to get dietitians the best possible position with the expansion of Medicare through the state budget process. There is a lot going on!
