New Horizons: Nutrition and Dietetic Experiences in Low-Resource International Settings

The Global Member Interest Group (GMIG) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (Academy) is pleased to invite you to attend this webinar.  Nutrition is recognized as a key component in meeting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.  Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are well-positioned to be part of the solution to malnutrition worldwide.  In this webinar, meet three dietitians who have volunteered with a variety of organizations to build the capacity of local people to meet nutritional needs in their own country.  Learn how to become involved in international volunteer work and how to join with other dietitians with the same interest.

Objective 1: Identify 3 types of volunteer projects dietitians may become involved in overseas.
Objective 2: List some of the benefits and challenges of international volunteering.
Objective 3: Name three international non-governmental or bi-lateral organizations for which a dietitian may work and/or volunteer.

Performance Indicators:
12.1.3 Collaborates with community partners and stakeholders in promoting nutritional health and disease prevention.
12.4.5 Provides nutrition information and education to the community.
3.2.5 Educates the employer and the public on the role and the benefits of receiving care or services from an RDN and NDTR.
